Old folks pick up new instruments, make music

Learning to play an instrument is something many children do. (“Mastering” the trombone was one of the highlights of my junior & high school years.) But plenty of people in their 60s, 70s, and 80s are picking up instruments, sometimes for the very first time, and making music. They do so for the pure joy of sound and the thrill of creation…but they also do it as a way to deal with some of the difficulties, specifically money troubles, in their lives.
